Which census Hallan
- The census lists two villages of the name, both in the Naggar development block. 012733 "Hallan-I (24/42)" is in Kullu tehsil, with 112 households and 524 people, a bus service and an all-weather road. 012707 "Muhal Hallan-II (22/32)" is in Manali tehsil, with 66 households and 303 people and no bus service or all-weather road (District Census Handbook 2011, Part XII-B, printed pp. 52 and 58; the village amenities spreadsheet in the same catalogue).
- The accessions' Hallan is Hallan-I. OpenStreetMap has a hiking route named "Hallan-I to Shedu Pathar thach" (relation 18295645) that starts at 32.1236, 77.1945, 190 m from the accessions' collection point (32.121938, 77.193850), and a route named "Sajla to Hallan" (relation 19730967) that ends 700 m from it. A path named "Hallan-2 to Dumaldev ka Mandir" (way 975929106) lies on the right bank of the Beas, 7.5 to 10 km west of the collection point.
- The census listing order agrees. Hallan-I (012733) is listed among Rangri, Chaki, Sarsai, Raman and Nagar (012734 to 012740), the villages around Naggar. Hallan-II (012707) is listed among Nayalag, Magana, Shilha and Bari (012706 to 012710), which OpenStreetMap places on the right bank above Patlikuhal.
- The article cites the OpenStreetMap route (relation 18295645) for the footpath that starts about 200 m from the collection point, so that the identification has a visible source. Whether a map database should be cited in article text is not settled; this section carries the evidence either way.
- One page, "Hallan", for Hallan-I. Hallan-II gets no page and no link; it is named in the hatnote and in the Geography section only.
- The ETV Bharat report of 20 September 2022 lists हलान (Halan) among 16 hill areas worked by the Central Bureau of Narcotics teams. The same list also has चौकी (Chauki) and शीला (Shila), names that occur on the right bank near Hallan-II, so the report does not settle which Hallan it means. The article says only that the report names the place.
Coordinates and elevation
- The infobox point is the accessions' collection point, rounded to 32.1219, 77.1939. OpenStreetMap has no node for the village itself; the nearest mapped settlements are Baltha (130 m), Charanag (320 m) and Raman (370 m).
- SRTM gives 2,252 m at the collection point; the accession pages give 2,275 m. The collection documentation gives 2,100 m for the village. The infobox range 2,100–2,275 m spans the two documented figures.
Source notes
- The collection documentation types both Hallan lots "Selected feral landrace"; the accession pages class both as landrace. The article follows the accession pages for the class and reports the documentation's descriptions with attribution.
- The accession pages store the collection date as 05/09/2023, while the accession names and every dated source for the visit give 2022. Not resolved here.
- The accession pages store
admin_3 = Naggar Tehsil, a tehsil that does not exist; the census puts Hallan-I in Kullu tehsil, which is what this page's infobox stores.
