Evidentiary scope

The label gives the collector, the number, the date and, in its printed heading, the province. It names no place, habitat, use or note on cultivation. The accession is classified Other and no conservation priority is assigned.

Label reading

Read twice, independently, from the Chinese Virtual Herbarium's image of the sheet (NAS00290126, 992 × 1,440 pixels).

  • Label (printed 國立中央研究院自然歷史博物館植物標本室 / Herbarium of the Metropolitan Museum of Natural History, Academia Sinica, Nanking, China., with FLORA OF SZECHUAN printed in blue below, partly covered by the edge of the label above it; completed by hand): Cannabis sativa Linn. 大麻 / Locality blank / Herb. No. blank / Det. by C. Pei / Coll. W.P.Fang 9123 / Date Sept. 13, 1930. A red star sticker; pencil 63.
  • Tag (stamped): 13 SEP. 1930.
  • A faint pencilled word at the top left, not read. SZECHWAN province stamp; East China station stamp; red 089241.

The two readings agree; one allows that the last digit of the number could be 5.

Georeferencing

No point is given. The label names no place: the province comes from its printed heading, Flora of Szechuan, and the sheet's SZECHWAN stamp. The province field takes Sichuan.

Editorial treatment

Collector. The collector field keeps the label's W. P. Fang, as on Fang 3525 (1928); the prose links Fang Wen-p'ei.

Determination. The identified-by field takes the label's C. Pei. No source tying the initials to a botanist was read, and the name is not linked.

Image. The Chinese Virtual Herbarium publishes its images under CC BY-NC-ND 4.0, so the page cites each sheet's image and shows none.
