Evidentiary scope
The label records cannabis as cultivated in the irrigated area of an oasis west of Mooteh in August 1971, with greenish flowers. That is direct evidence of cultivation at the place and date; it does not say for what use, from what seed or under what name, and it records no local name. The accession is classified Other, as other sheets that document cultivation are. A single sheet does not establish a landrace or a continuing population. No conservation priority is assigned.
Label reading
Read from the Edinburgh image (E00405500, 2497 × 4096 pixels).
- Typed label UNIVERSITY OF LEICESTER / FLORA OF IRAN / Cannabis sativa L. / Mooteh, 110 km S of QOM. Oasis 10 km W of village. Irrigated area; cultivated. Flowers greenish. / Alt.; c. 1900 m / August 2nd, 1971 / UTM Ref.: VT 70 20 with the coordinates 50°40′ E, 33°35′ N / Collected by J.R. Edmondson No. 833.
- Vienna revision slip HERB. MUSEI HIST. NATUR. VINDOB. / Rev. pro „Flora Iranica" / Est! / 197 with 7 added by hand / K. H. Rechinger, with no name written in.
- Edinburgh receipt stamp ROYAL BOTANIC GARDEN EDINBURGH with 135/76 and a sheet count written in: not a field datum.
Georeferencing
The coordinate is the label's own, 33°35′ N, 50°40′ E, stored as 33.58, 50.67; the catalogue and GBIF give the same point. Its SRTM 30-metre elevation is 1,879 metres against the label's 1,900, a difference of 21 metres. OpenStreetMap places the point in Zarkan Rural District, Shahin Shahr and Meymeh County, Isfahan Province. Wikidata places the village of Muteh (the label's Mooteh) at 33.62, 50.79, about 12 kilometres east-north-east of the point, which fits the label's 10 km W of village.
Editorial treatment
The province field takes Isfahan Province. The district field is left empty: the county named for the point has been reorganised, OpenStreetMap and Wikidata giving it different names, and the label names none.
