Evidentiary scope

The seed was bought, not gathered. Kew's note places the purchase at a Chinese drug store in Perak and says nothing of where the plant grew. The catalogue files the seed as a Chinese drug, under the use MEDICINES. It gives no habitat and no note on cultivation, so the accession is classified Other; no conservation priority is assigned.

Kew publishes no image of this object, and GBIF carries none.

Georeferencing

No point is given. The only place the catalogue names below the country is Perak, a state, where the seed was bought; it names no town and no shop, and the state is the finest place named. Where the seed was grown is not recorded.

Editorial treatment

Country. Kew codes the object China, as one of a lot of Chinese drugs. The only place its note gives is Perak, where the seed was bought, so the country field gives Malaysia and the province field Perak. The seed may have been grown in China; the catalogue does not say.

Date. The note says the lot was received with Dr Hooper's collection in 1931. That is the latest year the purchase can be from, which the title gives; the collection date stays empty. The note does not give Dr Hooper's full name.

The paper the note cites. The note refers to a paper in the Gardens' Bulletin of the Straits Settlements, 1929. The article quotes the note; the paper itself has not been read for this page.

Collection method. The field gives Seeds, the value for seed material. The object is a museum seed sample, and the page does not claim that it holds viable seed.

Source citations remain in the article. Éloise 15:19, 13 October 2026 (+07)
