Discussion

Evidentiary scope

The sources give a place, a day and a number. They record no habitat, no use and no note on cultivation. The accession is classified Other. A single gathering does not establish a landrace or a continuing population, and no conservation priority is assigned.

Georeferencing

No point is given. The only source for the place is McPartland and Small's list, East Bengal, Jessore, which may name the town of Jessore (today Jashore) or the Jessore district of 1874, a larger area than today's Jashore District; the catalogue gives only the country. The province field takes the division in which the town lies today.

Editorial treatment

Country. The Smithsonian's catalogue gives India, the country of the sheet's time; McPartland and Small's Jessore is in today's Bangladesh, and the page follows the place.

Image. No image of the sheet was read for this page; its values are the holder's catalogue's. The Smithsonian publishes no image of it.

Source discrepancies

  • The Smithsonian's catalogue and GBIF give the country as India; McPartland and Small file the sheet under Bangladesh.
