Identifier
The accession identifier is CBG-GHA-UNK-0120130001, built from the holder, the ISO 3166-1 alpha-3 country, the province segment, the month, the year and the sequence number.
- Holder segment
CBGstands for Cannabiogen. - Country segment
GHAand province segmentUNK. The listing names Ghana and no place within it. - Year 2013 is the year of the earliest dated document found that lists the line: Cannabiogen's English limited-release catalogue, captured by the Wayback Machine on 1 May 2013 (http://www.cannabiogen.com/en/limited-releases/index.html). No source gives a collection year, so, as for other vendor accessions without one, the identifier takes the first attested year. A Wayback Machine capture shows when the archive saw a page, not when the line went on sale, so the year is a lower bound and moves if an earlier capture or catalogue is found.
- Month 01 is the placeholder used when the year comes from first attestation.
Descriptive name
The product is sold as "GHANA x10 (Africa Oeste)" in Spanish and "GHANA x10 (West Africa)" in English. The descriptive name takes the product name, Ghana. The product page's address ends in ghana-jahwis-joy-x10.html. That address is the only place the words jahwis-joy appear; no page uses them as a name, so they are not used here.
Sourcing
Cannabiogen's own pages, read from Wayback Machine captures: the English limited-release catalogue of 1 May 2013, the Spanish product page of 8 June 2013 and the English product page of 10 June 2013.
The type, flowering time and yield are the company's. The rest of the product page is a traveller's account of smoking in West Africa, written in the first person and not signed. It mentions Burkina besides Ghana and describes herb smoked there, not the seed on sale; the article reports only that the account is there. No collector, farmer, collection site or collection date is named, and no independent source for the line's origin was found.
Typing
- Classification: Other. Cannabiogen's account of the line is its own and is attributed in the article; a vendor listing does not establish the class of the source population.
- Sourcing type: Unknown provenance. The listing gives no chain of custody from the source population to the seed on sale.
- Accession type is left empty: the listing does not say whether the seed on sale is the original collection or a reproduction of it.
- Cultivation status: Unknown. The company's home page still offered seed in April 2021 and only its Delta nutrient range in May 2022 (see Cannabiogen). That says nothing about whether anyone still grows the line.
- Traits. The flowering times in the infobox are the company's figures. The account's descriptions of colour, taste and effect are of herb smoked in West Africa, not of plants grown from this seed, and are left out.
Archived versions
Listed in the English limited-release catalogue on 1 May 2013; product pages captured on 8 June 2013 (Spanish) and 10 June 2013 (English); the Spanish product address was captured again on 8 September 2013 (not read). It is not in the Spanish catalogues of 3 July and 4 August 2013 or the English ones of December 2013 and February 2014. The English product address still answered on 7 April 2018, but the capture renders without the product.
Georeferencing
No coordinate is asserted. The listing names Ghana and no collection point, region or town.
Conservation priority
Not rated. The listing gives nothing about the size or status of a source population.
