Discussion

Evidentiary scope

The typed label gives the place as N., Chiang Mai, Doi Chiang Dao and the date as Nov.18,62, and describes the plant as a Herb, common in plantation, frts. black. (a herb, common in a plantation, fruits black). The collector is K. Bunchuai. The words fit a crop and a weed in a crop alike: they do not say what the plantation grew, or whether this plant was sown there or came up among other plants. The label gives no local name and no use. The accession is classified Unknown. It is a single gathering and shows no continuing population and no living germplasm holding. No conservation priority is assigned.

Georeferencing

The label names Doi Chiang Dao, a mountain in Chiang Dao District, and no collection point on it. The district is georeferenced rather than declined: the infobox holds 19.54, 98.95, the point OpenStreetMap gives for the administrative area of Chiang Dao District. It is an area point for the district, not a collection point, and it places the gathering only to within about 40 km. This supersedes the refusal recorded here earlier, which declined a point.

Editorial treatment

The label's spelling Canabis is quoted as written. The collector field uses the label form K. Bunchuai.

The infobox image is the Forest Herbarium's own scan of SN 009249, which the herbarium publishes with all rights reserved. It is used under fair use, with the rationale on its file page.

Source discrepancies

  • The Forest Herbarium catalogue gives the major area as Chiang Mai and no locality. The label adds Doi Chiang Dao, which the article and the locality field follow.
