Discussion
Evidentiary scope
The form records a local name, kanchaa. It also records a use given by a named informant: the leaves, dried and smoked, as a stimulant in a mixed drug. It records no cultivation and no habitat. It is a single gathering. It shows neither a continuing population nor a living germplasm holding, so it supports neither a landrace nor a feral classification. The accession is classified Other. No conservation priority is assigned.
Georeferencing
The form names Ban Pong Noi in the Muang district of Chiang Mai at 350 m. In Mueang Chiang Mai District, OpenStreetMap maps the village through its temple, Wat Pong Noi (node/2650685295) and its school (way/854514944). The infobox georeferences the temple at 18.77, 98.94, which stands at 341 m on SRTM against the form's 350 m, a difference of 9 m. It is a locality point, not a reconstructed collection point. It places the gathering to within about 2 km. A second Ban Pong Noi mapped in Mae Taeng District does not match the form's district and was set aside.
Entered under Tier A of the coordinate ruling of 18 September 2026.
Editorial treatment
The form and the catalogue give the collectors by surname only, Bjørnland and Schumacher. The collector field is left empty so that no page is linked from a bare surname; the collector number names both. The form's heading also names Brun, who is not named on the collection line.
15/8-list: 467 is quoted as written and not interpreted. The informant's given name, Pradit, is reported as the form gives it.
The infobox image is the Forest Herbarium's own scan of SN 009246, which the herbarium publishes with all rights reserved. It is used under fair use, with the rationale on its file page (ruling of 18 September 2026).
Source discrepancies
- The catalogue's note, Medical use for stimulant, omits the form's qualifier as part of mixed drug. The article quotes the form.
