Evidentiary scope
Harvard's index gives a collector, a number, a day, an altitude and a province. It records no habitat, use or note on cultivation. The accession is classified Unknown. It does not establish a continuing population, and no conservation priority is assigned.
Georeferencing
No point is given. Harvard's index gives only Assam. Biswas's number 4780, gathered the same day at the same 3,000 feet, is labelled East Himalaya; Badamtam and catalogued by Harvard under West Bengal, and his 4784 is labelled Badamtam. The California Academy of Sciences catalogues Badamtam Forest in the Darjeeling Dist. of West Bengal (GBIF occurrence 543686119). The province and district fields follow the neighbouring numbers. Badamtam itself is not mapped in OpenStreetMap under that name, and a plant numbered between two Badamtam gatherings may still come from another place on the same day's route, so no point is given. The district is not named in this sheet's own catalogue entry but inferred from the neighbouring numbers, so it takes no district point either.
Editorial treatment
Province. Harvard's index gives Assam. The page follows Biswas's neighbouring numbers, 4780 of the same day and 4784, which name Badamtam in the Darjeeling hills, and Harvard's own catalogue of 4780, which gives West Bengal.
Altitude. The index's 3,000 feet is about 914 m.
Collector. The index gives the initials K. P.; the collector is not identified further.
Image. Harvard's index publishes no image of the sheet. The page's values are the index's.
Source discrepancies
- Harvard's index gives the locality as Assam; Biswas's numbers 4780 (the same day) and 4784 are labelled Badamtam, in the Darjeeling hills of West Bengal.
