Border

The border is the municipality of Ataco (OpenStreetMap relation 4047308; DIVIPOLA code 73067), simplified, and meets the Tolima border and the neighbouring appellations; about 1,010 km². The point in the infobox is the centre of the border, not a field.

Sources

  • The status is Active: marijuana was eradicated in the municipality from 2010 to 2018, and the army reported plants destroyed in rural Ataco in February 2016.
  • The Ministry of Defence's eradication dataset lists, for Ataco with crop type marihuana: 7 rows, 26 January 2010 to 20 October 2018, 8.06 hectares (downloaded 4 November 2026). The figures on the page are sums of those rows.
  • The La FM report of 23 February 2016 gives one figure (more than 8,000 plants) for Ataco, Chaparral and San Antonio together; it does not say how many were in Ataco. The dataset has no Ataco row for February 2016.

Not used

  • Seizures on the Ataco–Planadas road give no origin for the marijuana and are not evidence of growing; the Talk page of Tolima lists them.
  • An early-warning alert of the national ombudsman's office (016 of 2022) on Planadas, Ataco, Chaparral and Rioblanco names illicit cultivation and the transit of coca, poppy and marijuana in one phrase, without saying which crop is grown; it is not used.
