Evidentiary scope
The label gives a place name, a month and a number. It names no collector, province, habitat or use. The accession is classified Other and no conservation priority is assigned.
Label reading
Read twice, independently, from the Chinese Virtual Herbarium's image of the sheet (PE 00557911, 995 × 1,440 pixels).
- Field form (printed FLORA OF CHINA / 中國植物, completed by hand): Field No. 69 / Date 1930. 5 / Collector (blank) / Locality Chiu-shan-Tou (the second syllable could also be read shang or shay) / Flower green / Family Cannabaceae / Name Cannabis sativa ?. A leaf fragment is glued to the form.
- Fan Memorial Institute label: Ed. No. 69 / Herb. No. 70874 (red) / Canabis sativa Linn. / Collector, Loc., Determined by and Date blank.
- Tag. 69. Stamped number 01926740; no province stamp was seen.
The two readings agree; both leave the place name uncertain.
Georeferencing
No point is given: Chiu-shan-tou was not found. It was searched in OpenStreetMap and Wikidata as Jiushangtou, Qiushangtou, Chiushangtou and Jiushang Tou, and under the guessed characters 九上头, 九上頭, 丘上头 and 邱上头, with no match; the sheet names no province to narrow the search. The province field is left empty: no province appears on the sheet.
Editorial treatment
Title. No collector is named, so the title takes Anon. and the field number.
Date. The form gives May 1930, which is stored.
Image. The Chinese Virtual Herbarium publishes its images under CC BY-NC-ND 4.0, so the page cites each sheet's image and shows none.
Source discrepancies
- The catalogue places the sheet in Hebei; no province appears on the sheet.
