How the volume was read
The volume was read on 3 and 4 October 2026 in the digitised copy linked from the infobox. Its OCR text layer is of uneven quality, so every figure and quotation on the page was read on the page images.
The scan is incomplete. It begins at p. 7 of the State Council's report, so pp. 1–6 are missing. In the Dewan's report it passes from p. 18 to the page that opens with paragraph 98, so pp. 19–22, which would carry the Dewan's section on excise revenue, are missing too. The page therefore gives no consumption or revenue figures for ganja in 1891–92.
The imprint line of the title page is cut off, so the year of printing is not given. The State Council's own covering letter is not in the scan. The composition date in the infobox is that of the annexed reports: the Superintendent's (dated August 1892, with two days, 1st and 20th, printed one above the other), the Dewan's (29 August 1892) and the Registrar of Deeds' (10 August 1892).
Each report in the volume is paginated separately, so a page number alone is ambiguous; the page's citations name the report ("Council's report, p. 9"; "Dewan's report, p. 5").
Readings that need care
The report invests the police under section 41 of "the Excise Act (Act VIII B. C. of 1878) as revised by Act I of 1883". The volume for 1893–94 models a notification on "section 17A of Act VII of 1878 (B.C.)", a different number. Neither volume expands "B. C."; each page quotes its form as printed.
The drug is "gunja" in the paragraph on excise and "ganja" in the next; the warehouses are "golahs" in the report and "Gollah" in the appendix. Quotations keep the spelling of the passage quoted.
