Discussion
Evidentiary scope
The label places the plant on a stream bank within the city of Khabarovsk in July 1926, Сорное место (a weedy place), and the collector adds В сорных местах Cann. s. всюду (Cannabis sativa everywhere in weedy places). It gives no use. The plant grew outside cultivation. The accession is classified Feral, by inference from the label; the label does not say whether the plants descended from a crop. A single gathering does not establish a continuing population, and no conservation priority is assigned. An earlier version of this note classified the sheet as Other because a single gathering does not establish a landrace or a continuing population.
Label reading
Read twice, independently, from the holder's image (3730 × 5152 pixels). A leaf lies over parts of three lines of the form; the letters under it are supplied in brackets.
- Printed form with the answers by hand. 2492-26.
- Readings. Both readings agree on every answer; В черте города (within the city), partly under the leaf, is read the same way by both and by the catalogue.
- A pencilled 1973 in the lower right corner, in the hand seen on nearly every sheet of this series in the Moscow depository, says nothing about its purpose and is not used.
Georeferencing
The point 48.48, 135.08 is the city of Khabarovsk, OpenStreetMap node 277060995. The label says within the city and names a stream bank; the stream is not named and none can be picked out among the small streams of the city. The point therefore stands for the town of 1926, much smaller than today's city, and the uncertainty covers its built-up area. The herbarium's database publishes the point 48.461257, 135.080676, with no uncertainty and no note of how it was found; it lies in the city, 2.3 km south-south-east of the centre and within the uncertainty given here, but nothing on the label prefers that spot to any other in the town. SRTM gives 69 m at the point; the label gives no altitude. Basis: settlement point. Uncertainty: about 4 km.
Editorial treatment
Local name. The form's line for the Russian and local name reads Конопля, the ordinary Russian word for hemp; it is reported in the article and not entered as a local name.
Collector. The collector and determiner fields take the catalogue's A. Adrianov, the label's А. Адрианов. No source read for this page gives his full name, which is not linked.
