Identifier
The accession identifier is AFP-MWI-CEN-0120040001-R1: the identifier of Malawi Gold 2004 with the reproduction suffix, because the same business holds both the line and its selection.
- Year 2004 is the parent's year, as for other reproductions. No dated document lists Malawi Mini under that name: the SeedFinder entry carries no date, and none of the business's archived pages names the line.
- Descriptive name.
2004 AFP Malawi Mini IBL: the parent's year, the holder, the line's name and "IBL", the business's own word for the line in its description of Sweet Malawi ("Malawi Mini (IBL)"). "IBL" is part of the product name, not a classification.
Sourcing
The business's description of the line on SeedFinder (https://seedfinder.eu/en/strain-info/malawi-mini/afropips-seeds), and its description of Sweet Malawi (https://seedfinder.eu/en/strain-info/sweet-malawi/afropips-seeds), both read on 12 October 2026. Every statement about the line is the business's own account and is attributed to it. The descriptions say that the line was developed from Malawi Gold for height-restricted indoor growing; they do not say when, how many generations of selection it took, or from what stock.
The 2009 menu of the business's website, archived on 13 April 2009 (http://www.afropips.moonfruit.com/pureafricans/4511419431), lists a page called "MALAWI INDOORS" among its pure African lines. That page was never archived. A line for indoor growing made from Malawi Gold would fit the name, but nothing on the archived pages says that it was Malawi Mini, so the identifier does not rest on it and the year is not taken from it.
Typing
- Accession type: Reproduction, with Malawi Gold 2004 as the parent: the business names its own Malawi Gold as the line's genetics and describes the line as a shorter version of it.
- Classification: Landrace IBL. The business calls Malawi Mini "The shorter statured compact version of the first grade Malawi Gold", its own line, and its Sweet Malawi description names the parent "the short statured Afropips Malawi Mini (IBL)". The parent, Malawi Gold 2004, is classified Landrace on the business's account of its growers in Malawi. This accession is classified Landrace IBL, an inbred line selected from that landrace, by inference from the business's account. No source says how many generations the selection took. "Pure-bred, traditional landrace" remains the business's claim and is attributed in the article. An earlier version of this note classified the line as Other and reported that claim without inferring a class from it.
- Sourcing type is left empty: the source is the business's own parent line, and no source describes how the selection was made.
- Selection type is left empty for the same reason.
- Country, province and district are carried over from the parent; they give the place named for the parent line, not the place where this selection was grown, which no source states.
- Cultivation status: Unknown, as on the parent.
- Traits. The flowering times in the infobox are the business's figures ("14-16 weeks").
Figures as written
The description gives "Flowering Period: 14-16 weeks", entered as 14 and 16. Its "approximately a meter tall if grown into a 12/12 flowering cycle indoors" describes one way of growing the plant, not its height in general, so it is reported in the article and not entered in the height fields.
Source accession
This page is the business's selection. The parent line, its place and its dating are documented at Malawi Gold 2004. Sweet Malawi, the business's cross of Malawi Mini with Sweet Tooth #3, has no accession.
Georeferencing
No point is given. This page is a selection from the line recorded at Malawi Gold 2004, and the point for that population is on that page; a second point here would plot the same population twice.
Conservation priority
Not rated. A rating belongs to the source population, at Malawi Gold 2004.
