Chow 42064 is a herbarium accession of Cannabis sativa collected in Huailai Hsien (Huailai County), now in Hebei, China, in September 1932 by H. F. Chow on the Hopeh Expedition. The Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing holds the sheet as PE 00557895[1].
Collection and locality
The label is a typed form of the herbarium of the Chinese Academy of Sciences' Institute of Plant Taxonomy, headed with the number 42061. It gives the collector H.F.Chow, the date 1932年9月 (September 1932, the day left blank) and the place Huailai Hsien. A printed tag reads Hopeh Exp. 1931 and H. F. Chow, with the number 42064 in pencil.[2] The catalogue gives the collector, the number 42064, the year and Hebei.[1]
Specimen and identification
The sheet carries a dense leafy top with packed female flower clusters. A determination slip numbered 42064 names it Cannabis sativa L., determined by K. C. Kuan in 1939.[2] The same collector gathered cannabis in the Western Hills of Peking the year before: Chow 41363 (1931).
