The Cooch Behar district police launched a special operation against illegal marijuana cultivation across multiple locations on September 24, 2024, destroying marijuana plants from several hundred bighas of land. Police from the Western Division of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) discovered and destroyed approximately 200 marijuana plants during Operation Trident on January 4, 2026.
