Ban Nan Toeng 'Elite' Selection #2 2024 is a single-plant selection drawn from the Ban Nan Toeng Lao-Isan landrace population, collected in the Phu Phan Mountains of Sakhon Nakhon Province by Éloïse and Isabella during the 2024/2025 growing season.

Geography

The Phu Phan Mountains of Sakhon Nakhon Province sit within the broader Isan region of northeastern Thailand, an area with a long history of cannabis cultivation. Ban Nan Toeng occupies the edge of the Kut Bak plateau at 200 meters elevation, where farmers have maintained this landrace across generations.

Collection Details

Selected from among the nine earliest-finishing plants in the Ban Nan Toeng population during the 2024/2025 season. Seeds were collected in November 2024 by Éloïse and Isabella during expedition ISAN02.

Cultivation Details

Plants are cultivated outdoors via direct seeding, with the regional planting window running from July through September and harvest from January through March. Heights of 2 to 3 meters are typical under natural short-day conditions.

Botanical Characteristics

Displaying the tall, narrow-leafed Christmas tree morphology typical of the Lao-Isan complex, this single-plant selection carries 9-leaflet leaves and long internodal spacing. Selection criteria focused on early maturation within the population. The terpene profile is characterised by earthy spice, herbal musk, woody undertones, and sweet tropical fruit including mango.

Aroma

Earthy spice, herbal musk, woody undertones, sweet tropical fruit, mango.

Effects

Uplifting, euphoric, and long-lasting, with a clean and energizing head effect free of paranoia.

Conservation Status

Ongoing male culling across the Ban Nan Toeng population has reduced genetic diversity and increased hermaphroditism. Conservation breeding efforts are in development to cultivate diverse male populations and produce stabilised seed stock for the local farming community.
