The Chapramari 'Sipchu Lemon' Feral Selection 2025 is a feral landrace cannabis accession collected by Isabella and Eloise of the Zomia Collective in West Bengal, India.
Geography
Sipchu village is located in the Chapramari Wildlife Sanctuary in Jalpaiguri District, West Bengal, India, within the Chapramari landrace cannabis growing area of The Dooars growing region.
Administratively, the area belongs to Matiali CD block in the Malbazar sub-district of Jalpaiguri district, West Bengal state.
Collection Details
This accession was documented by Isabella & Eloise in June 2025. A total of 265 seeds were hand selected from a single plant found growing in a self-seeding, feral landrace cannabis population of 10,000+ plants near Sipchu village.
The population is self-reproducing with no human cultivation or management.
Population Characteristics
The feral population near Sipchu is widespread in the Chapramari area. The population estimate is 10,000 plants.
The sex ratio shows approximately 40% of plants are male, with 60% female. No hermaphroditic plants were observed (0% hermaphroditism). No culling occurs as this is a feral population without human management.
The population operates under legal tolerance in the area.
Botanical Characteristics
Plants range in height from 1 to 2 meters.
In terms of morphology, the plants exhibited apical dominance and growing in a Christmas tree pattern. The leaf shape is narrow with 5 leaflets. Serration is smooth.
The plants show light green and yellowing coloration in the leaves, with red and woody stems. Stigmas were orange hairs.
The flowers were loose, foxtailed, airy, and running in structure.
Flowering time ranges from 20 to 24 weeks.
Aroma
The aroma is recorded as lemon dominant.
Conservation Status
The accession is recorded at low conservation priority. The feral population is widespread and self-reproducing.
