Fulkardabri - Raja's Selection 2025 is a domesticate landrace cannabis accession collected by Éloïse and Isabella of the Zomia Collective in West Bengal, India.
Geography
Fulkardabri is located in Cooch Behar District, West Bengal, India, within the Mekliganj landrace cannabis growing area of the North Bengal Plains growing region.
Administratively, the area belongs to Mekliganj CD block in the sub-district of Mekliganj which itself belongs to the Cooch Behar district of West Bengal state.
Collection Details
This accession was documented by Isabella & Éloïse in July 2025. A total of 410 seeds were given to Éloïse by a local cannabis grower alias 'Raja'. The seeds come from an autochthonous, cultivated landrace cannabis population of 5 plants grown by Raja near Fulkardabri village.
Cultivation Details
Raja cultivates cannabis on a small scale within a context of widespread regional cultivation. His home garden contains many traditional Bengali crops. The cannabis is grown on margins and boundaries, this particular accession was growing near the edge of a tea garden nearby to a cluster of family compounds. The seeds that Raja grows are sourced from plants grown on the farm. Seeds are direct seeded into the ground into prepared plots of land.
The plants are grown according to the monsoons, with two cycles of planting and harvesting per year. The first cycle starts with planting from May to June and harvest occurs between October and January. The second cycle planting takes place from October to November while the harvest starts in April and finishes in May.
Raja practices culling of the male plants within the plot, with pollination occurring primarily due to the large amount of male feral cannabis plants in the local area. No hermaphroditic plants were observed in the population (0%). No male plants were present in the population.
