The accession is autochthonous to Shan State. Other alleged Burmese strains circulating at Western seed sites, including so-called ''Yunnan Indica'', have been shown through genomic analysis to be hybridized with modern cultivars such as Skunk.

Geography

Shan State is an ethnically Tai region in eastern Myanmar at approximately 21°N latitude.

Collection Details

A cultivator from Laos brought seeds back from Shan State after being impressed by the quality of the ganja grown there. The Real Seed Company sourced seeds from this grower. The 2025 stock represents a fresh collection from this source.

Cultivation Details

In its region of origin, harvest takes place from December to March. The accession is suitable for greenhouse or outdoor cultivation.

Botanical Characteristics

Plants reach heights of 2 to 4 metres with a sativa-type architecture. Buds are large and fluffy with a loose structure. The population is resinous. Some individuals express purple colouration. There is considerable diversity within the population in terms of aroma and potency.

Aroma

Aromas are powerfully intense and vary within the population. Reported notes include mango, spicy, hazy, incense, citrus, peppery, herbal, minty, oregano. Dried flowers develop peppery, herbal, and waxy tropical characteristics. Flavour is described as extremely spicy, herbal, and smooth with incense notes.

Effects

Effects range from strongly stimulating to psychedelic. Described as clear and cerebral, inducing reasoning and motivation. Some individuals produce a more psychedelic experience with closed and open eye visuals. Potency is high to extremely high with considerable variation within the population.
