Bokeo #2 General Population 2022 is a landrace cannabis accession collected at point of origin by the Real Seed Company in Bokeo, northwestern Laos in 2022.[1]
Geography
Bokeo is a province in northwestern Laos, immediately east of the Mekong river, at approximately 20°N latitude. The source communities are located in sparsely populated highlands and jungle, isolated by hundreds of kilometres from any conceivable source of contamination by modern hybrid genetics.
Collection Details
Seeds were collected at point of origin from farmers in communities that do not have contacts with outsiders who might introduce modern hybrid seeds. Fields and plots are far distant from any source of genetic contamination. The accession is autochthonous and considered to represent a pristine traditional ganja domesticate.
This is a distinct type from the earlier Bokeo offering by The Real Seed Company.
Seeds were retested in summer 2025 and showed close to 100% germination rates.
Cultivation Details
As with all tropical ganja landraces, this accession is cultivated as a six-month crop from seed to harvest. The accession is suitable for greenhouse or outdoor cultivation.
Botanical Characteristics
Plants reach heights of up to 4 metres with a sativa-type architecture.
Aroma
Aromas are described as intense and rich.
Effects
Described as euphoric and luminous.
Conservation Status
The accession is recorded at high conservation priority. As of 2022, the source population is geographically isolated from modern hybrid genetics. However, also in 2022, Thailand legalised cannabis, collapsing much of the export oriented black market cultivation in Laos. Seeds are maintained ex situ and distributed through The Real Seed Company.
