Search

The search box is at the top of every page. Type what you are looking for and press Enter.

Search tips:

• Search is not case-sensitive: "parvati valley" and "Parvati Valley" return the same results.
• Use specific terms. Searching "Cambodia prohibition 1955" will narrow results better than "Cambodia laws."
• If you know the exact page name, type it directly into the search box. If the page exists, you will be taken straight to it.

Browsing by region

The main page has cards for each major gene pool and growing region. Click through to explore:

Gene Pool (e.g., South Asia) > Growing Region (e.g., Western Himalayas) > Growing Area (e.g., Parvati Valley) > Appellation (e.g., Malana Valley) > Field > Accession

Each level links down to the next and back up to the previous. You can enter the hierarchy at any level and navigate from there. See the geographic hierarchy for a full explanation of the seven levels.

Browsing by category

Pages are organised into categories. At the bottom of most pages you will see category links. Click a category to see all pages in it.

Useful categories for browsing:

• Growing regions
• Country pages
• Accessions
• News items

Browsing by conservation status

Accessions and growing regions carry conservation status ratings (Stable, Vulnerable, Endangered, Critical, Extinct, Unknown). The main page includes a conservation status dashboard. You can also query by status using the wiki's semantic search.

Special pages

MediaWiki provides built-in tools for navigating and exploring the wiki:

• Special:AllPages – Alphabetical list of every page on the wiki.
• Special:Random – Jump to a random page.
• Special:RecentChanges – See what has been edited recently.
• Special:Categories – Browse all categories.
• Special:WhatLinksHere – Find out which pages link to a specific page (enter the page name after clicking).
• Special:SpecialPages – Full list of all special pages.

Current events and news

The Portal:Current Events page tracks enforcement operations, policy changes, fieldwork, and research developments in real time. It is updated regularly and organised by date and category.

The Community portal covers project announcements, milestones, and collaboration updates.
