Khun Aek Farm 'Tiger Tail' Selection 2024 is a short-day landrace cannabis accession originating from Ban Nan Toeng in the Phu Phan Mountains of Sakhon Nakhon, Isan, Thailand. This domesticated Lao-Isan population represents an open-pollinated selected population focusing on the Tiger Tail phenotype.
This accession is part of ongoing conservation and documentation efforts by Isabella of the Zomia Collective. Seeds were collected at Point of Origin and are stored in the Zomia Genetic Library to preserve genetic diversity.
Geography
The accession grows on the edge of the Kut Bak plateau in the Phu Phan Mountains of Isan, Thailand, at elevations around 200 meters. The warm, seasonally dry climate and well-drained mountain soils support tall sativa morphology and short-day flowering response.
Collection Details
Khun Aek Farm 'Tiger Tail' Selection was collected in February 2025 by Isabella from the Khun Aek farm. Seeds were harvested directly on the farm using traditional open-pollination methods. The population shows some introgression but retains classic Lao-Isan landrace characteristics.
Botanical Characteristics
The Tiger Tail phenotype is distinguished by tall, narrow-leaf sativa morphology with long internodes, strong lateral branching, and high resin production. Plants reach 2–3 meters.
- **Tiger Tail (Hang Suea):** Robust structure, thick colas, dense trichomes. Aromas include earthy spice, herbal musk, woody undertones. Effects are clear-headed, energizing, and ideal for daytime use. - **Squirrel Tail (Hang Krarok):** Present within the general population; elongated, foxtail-like colas with lighter flowers. Aromas are sweet, floral, tropical fruit, and mango. Effects are uplifting and long-lasting, reflecting classic Mekong sativa qualities.
Conservation Status
Medium conservation priority. Seeds are actively maintained in the Zomia Genetic Library. The population represents a point-of-origin selection, preserving the genetic lineage of Lao-Isan landrace cannabis in the Phu Phan Mountains.
