Ban Nan Toeng 'Elite' Selection #4 2024 is a selected domesticate landrace cannabis accession documented in Thailand by Éloïse and Isabella. Seeds were sourced from the Nan Toeng Village Community in Ban Nan Toeng, within the Phu Phan Mountains of Sakhon Nakhon Province. This accession represents a farmer-driven selection from the broader Lao-Isan landrace population cultivated using traditional open-pollination.
Geography
Ban Nan Toeng is located in the Phu Phan Mountains of Sakhon Nakhon Province, Isan, Northeastern Thailand. Situated at approximately 200 meters elevation along the edge of the Kut Bak plateau, the area experiences a warm, dry climate during flowering and a monsoon season from July to September, supporting traditional landrace cultivation.
Collection Details
This accession represents a single-plant elite selection from the domesticated Lao-Isan landrace population of Ban Nan Toeng. Seeds were collected using open-pollination methods directly on the farm by Eloise and Isabella in November of 2024.
Synonyms include: Phu Phan, Hang Krarok Phu Phan, Hang Krarok, Hang Suea, Foyton. The population is a classic Mekong landrace, maintained historically by the Nan Toeng Village Community.

- Squirrel Tail (Hang Krarok) – elongated, foxtail-like colas; light and airy flowers; aroma sweet, floral, tropical fruit and mango; high is uplifting, euphoric, cerebral.
Growth pattern: Christmas tree Leaves: Narrow, 9 leaflets Flower structure: Loose, foxtailing, airy Photoperiod: Short-day Terpene profile: Myrcene dominant, earthy spice, herbal musk, woody undertones, tropical fruit, mango
Conservation Status
Ban Nan Toeng is a historic cultivation region for Thai landrace cannabis, with past contributions to the Thai Stick trade. Modern agricultural practices favoring seedless flowers have reduced male plant populations, creating a genetic bottleneck and increasing hermaphroditic males as primary pollen donors.
The Zomia Collective is actively preserving this accession through controlled breeding projects to increase male populations, stabilize the genetics, and distribute resilient seeds to local farmers. Conservation priority is Medium, with minimal introgression and legal cultivation permitted.
